17 Various Maintainers
18
19Note individuals who maintain parts of the debugger need approval to
20check in changes outside of the immediate domain that they maintain.
21
36c2118f
AC
22If there is no maintainer for a given domain then the responsibility
23falls to the head maintainer.
24
25If there are several maintainers for a given domain then
26responsibility falls to the first maintainer. The first maintainer is
27free to devolve that responsibility among the other maintainers.

30 The Obvious Fix Rule
31
32All maintainers listed in this file are allowed to check in obvious
33fixes.
34
35An "obvious fix" means that there is no possibility that anyone will
54c92070 36disagree with the change.
58cfabe6
AC
37
38A good mental test is "will the person who hates my work the most be
39able to find fault with the change" - if so, then it's not obvious and
40needs to be posted first. :-)
41
54c92070
AC
42Something like changing or bypassing an interface is _not_ an obvious
43fix, since such a change without discussion will result in
44instantaneous and loud complaints.

177All developers recognized by this file can make arbitrary changes to
178OBSOLETE targets.

180All maintainers can test and thence approve non-trivial changes to
181``maintenance only'' targets submitted by recognized developers.
182
183All recognized developers can make mechanical changes (by virtue of
184the obvious fix rule) to ``maintenance only'' targets. The change
185shall be sanity checked by compiling with one of the listed targets.

206The Native maintainer is responsible for target specific native
207support - typically shared libraries and quirks to procfs/ptrace/...
208The Native maintainer works with the Arch and Core maintainers when
209resolving more generic problems.

210
211The host maintainer ensures that gdb (including mmalloc) can be built
212as a cross debugger on their platform.
