drm/i915: Dump the whole context object.

As we've learned over time, the HW context is just a series of GPU
commands that we're able to decode without any changes in
intel_error_decode. Since many bugs recently have been implicated in
the HW context state, it makes sense to dump the whole context object
in a form which can be parsed.

drm/i915: Unref context on failed eb_create

I opted to do this instead of grabbing the context reference after
eb_create since eb_create can potentially call the shrinker, and that
makes things very complicated. This simple patch balances the ref count
without requiring a great deal of review to make sure the shrinker path
is safe.

Theoretically (by design) the shrinker can end up destroying a context,
which enforces the reasoning for doing the fix this way instead of
moving the reference to later in the function.

drm/i915: Make contexts non-snooped on non-LLC platforms

We don't do CPU access to GPU contexts so making the GPU access snoop
the CPU caches seems silly, and potentially expensive.

v2: Use !IS_VALLEYVIEW instead of HAS_LLC as this is really
    about what the PTEs can represent.
    Add a comment clarifying the situation.

drm/i915/vlv:Implement the WA 'WaDisable_RenderCache_OperationalFlush'

On Gen4+ platforms (except BDW), Render Cache Operational flush
cannot be enabled.
This WA is apparently required for all Gen4+ platforms,except BDW.
In BDW, the bit has been repurposed otherwise.
This has been tested only on vlv.

DRM: armada: fix corruption while loading cursors

Loading cursors to the LCD controller's SRAM can be corrupted when the
configured pixel clock is relatively slow.  This seems to be caused
when we write back-to-back to the SRAM registers.

There doesn't appear to be any status register we can read to check
when an access has completed.

Inserting a dummy read between the writes appears to fix the problem.

drm/mipi_dsi: add flags to DSI messages

This patch adds flags field to mipi_dsi_msg structure and two flags:
- MIPI_DSI_MSG_REQ_ACK - request ACK from peripheral for given message,
- MIPI_DSI_MSG_USE_LPM - use Low Power Mode to transmit message.
The first flag is usually helpful during DSI diagnostic, the second
flag is required by some peripherals during configuration phase.

drm/i915: vlv: fix RPS interrupt mask setting

This typo may lead to missed RPS interrupts and as a result a too
low or too high frequency for the current workload. The interrupt mask
will be set properly at a subsequent GPU idle event, but can get
corrupted again at the next RPS up/down event.

Revert "drm/i915/vlv: fixup DDR freq detection per Punit spec"

As per the inputs provided by hardware team  we still use DDR
Rates as 0,1=800, 2=1066, 3=1333.
With this change, Turbo freqs used on current machines matches.

drm/i915: move power domain init earlier during system resume

During resume the intel hda audio driver depends on the i915 driver
reinitializing the audio power domain. Since the order of calling the
i915 resume handler wrt. that of the audio driver is not guaranteed,
move the power domain reinitialization step to the resume_early
handler. This is guaranteed to run before the resume handler of any
other driver.

The power domain initialization in turn requires us to enable the i915
pci device first, so move that part earlier too.

Accordingly disabling of the i915 pci device should happen after the
audio suspend handler ran. So move the disabling later from the i915
resume handler to the resume_late handler.

busses (such as I2C), and therefore toggling the GPIO may sleep. Since

drm/cma: Use dma_mmap_writecombine() to mmap buffer

The GEM CMA helpers uses a custom mmap implementation based on
remap_pfn_range(). While this works when the buffer DMA and physical
addresses are identical, it fails to take IOMMU into account and tries
to mmap the buffer to userspace using the DMA virtual address instead of
the physical address. This results in mapping random physical pages when
the device is behind an IOMMU.

Use the DMA mapping dma_mmap_writecombine() function instead.

drm/mm: Fix search for smallest hole satisfying constraints

entry->size is the size of the node, not the size of the hole after it.
So the code would actually find the hole which can satisfy the
constraints and which is preceded by the smallest node, not the smallest
hole satisfying the constraints.

drm: Prefer noninterlace cmdline mode unless explicitly specified

Currently drm_pick_cmdline_mode() doesn't care about the interlace
when the given mode line has no "i" suffix.  That is, when there are
multiple entries for the same resolution, an interlace mode might be
picked up just depending on the assigned order, and there is no way to
exclude it.

This patch changes the logic for the mode selection, to prefer the
noninterlace mode unless the interlace mode is explicitly given.
When no matching mode is found, it still tries the interlace mode as
fallback.

drm/radeon: Use two-ended allocation by size, v2

This decreases eviction by up to 20%, by improving the fragmentation
quality. No harm in normal cases that fit VRAM fully (PTS gaming suite).

In some cases, even the VRAM-fitting cases improved slightly (openarena, urban terror).

512kb was measured as the most optimal threshold for 3d workloads common to radeon.
Other drivers may need different thresholds according to their workloads.

drm: Add support for two-ended allocation, v3

Clients like i915 need to segregate cache domains within the GTT which
can lead to small amounts of fragmentation. By allocating the uncached
buffers from the bottom and the cacheable buffers from the top, we can
reduce the amount of wasted space and also optimize allocation of the
mappable portion of the GTT to only those buffers that require CPU
access through the GTT.

For other drivers, allocating small bos from one end and large ones
from the other helps improve the quality of fragmentation.

drm/i915: Warn when DPIO read returns 0xffffffff

DPIO reads from groups/broadcast register offsets for PCS and
TX return all 1's. If that result gets used for something
we'll probably end up doing something wrong. So warn when that
happens.

FIXME there might be some registers where all 1's is a valid value,
so ideally we should check the register offset instead...

drm/i915: Add debug module option for VTd validation

VTd has a few too many "outright disable the damn thing" workarounds
accumulated and for validation we want a simple knob to make sure we
disable them all.

Since this is for bdw+ validation and atm we don't have any
workarounds for bdw this option currently does nothing. So currently
this is just a placeholder to make sure reality will match with the
documented process for our validation people.

drm/vmwgfx: correct fb_fix_screeninfo.line_length

Previously, the vmwgfx_fb driver would allow users to call FBIOSET_VINFO, but it would not adjust
the FINFO properly, resulting in distorted screen rendering. The patch corrects that behaviour.

drm/i915: fix infinite loop at gen6_update_ring_freq

If I boot my Broadwell machine to X on a system with Mesa Gallium
llvmpipe instead of i965, then kill X and try to run pm_pc8.c, when we
disable PC8 and call gen6_update_ring_freq(), we will get stuck on an
infinite loop because the frequencies are zero and the variables are
unsigned. This happens because we never ran any batch, so we did not
enable RC6, so the variables are zero. If I run gem_exec_nop before
running pm_pc8, everything works as expected because gem_exec_nop
makes RC6 be enabled.

This commit should prevent the infinite loop, which IMHO is already a
good reason to be merged, but it is not the proper fix to the "RC6 is
not being enabled" problem.

drm/i915: only check for irqs_disabled when disabling LCPLL

Because if we keep the current code, we'll get tons of WARNs on
Broadwell, since the code is Haswell-specific.

We could have also added a Broadwell-specific code there, but it's not
really needed since we never disable LCPLL with the hotplug interrupts
still enabled. So keep the easy-and-simple-to-maintain solution until
we actually need something else.

drm/i915: Enabling the TLB invalidate bit in GFX Mode register

This patch Enables the bit for TLB invalidate in GFX Mode register
for Gen7.

According to bspec,  When enabled this bit limits the invalidation
of the TLB only to batch buffer boundaries, to pipe_control
commands which have the TLB invalidation bit set and sync flushes.
If disabled, the TLB caches are flushed for every full flush of
the pipeline.

Tested only on vlv platform. Chris has tested on ivb and hsw
platforms.

drm/i915: Track OACONTROL register enable/disable during parsing

There is some thought that the data from the performance counters enabled
via OACONTROL should only be available to the process that enabled counting.
To limit snooping, require that any batch buffer which sets OACONTROL to a
non-zero value also sets it back to 0 before the end of the batch.

This requires limiting OACONTROL writes to happen via MI_LOAD_REGISTER_IMM
so that we can access the value being written. This should be in line with
the expected use case for writing OACONTROL.

Merge branch 'primary-plane' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~robclark/linux into drm-next

Here's the latest iteration of the universal planes work, which I believe is
finally ready for merging.  Aside from the minor driver patches to use the
new drm_for_each_legacy_plane() macro for plane loops, these should all have
an r-b from Rob Clark now.

Actual userspace-visibility is currently hidden behind a
drm.universal_planes module parameter so that we can do some experimental
testing of this before flipping it on universally.

This was originally introduced to make encoder sharing on radone
easier for userspace, but:

- It is policy and as such belongs into userspace. E.g. personally I'm
  fairly annoyed that a flaky cable results in permanent changes of
  the desktop layout, so I'll kick out DEs which do this. Worse if the
  kernel also tries to be clever.

- It's inconsistent: We only kill disconnected outputs on setCrtc
  (which userspace might also call when just changing the
  framebuffer), but not when e.g. we receive a hpd event or in the
  output poll worker.

- It's unexpected behaviour for the userspace driver, at least in the
  intel ddx we've had tons of bugs where the driver fell over and
  killed the X session becuase pageflips/vblanks suddenly stopped
  working. We've had to fix this by wrapping every single setCrtc int
  a big "recover kms state from the kernel again" operation.

- It's suprising for the kernel, too: It took a few mails between Rob,
  Matt and me for them to notice that little dragon wreaking havoc
  with the universal plane framebuffer refcounting.

- Userspace can cope with it and e.g. Gnome already kills disconnected
  outputs and reconfigures the desktop automatically. And since there
  have been no regression reports for the i915 change from over 1 year
  ago I think all other DEs are also ready.

drm: Specify a bit more the DRM_CAP_CURSOR_{WIDTH, HEIGHT} caps

Earlier this week, there was a bit of confusion about those new
capabilities, to the point I think it's better to document the intention
and API contract.

The comment documents the current situation:
 - the radeon driver returns the only valid size for the hw
 - i915 returns the maximun cursor size
 - other drivers fall back to returning 64x64

The common contract is to return a valid cursor size.

drm/nouveau: don't suspend/resume display on runtime s/r

This should ensure we don't hit a locking problem when someone
wakes us up via a connector, we should never go into suspend
while the display is on anyways.

drm: Allow userspace to ask for universal plane list (v2)

Userspace clients which wish to receive all DRM planes (primary and
cursor planes in addition to the traditional overlay planes) may set the
DRM_CLIENT_CAP_UNIVERSAL_PLANES capability.
