Shawn Guo [Wed, 28 Sep 2011 09:16:05 +0000 (17:16 +0800)]
arm/imx: change mxc_init_l2x0() to an imx31/35 specific call

The mxc_init_l2x0() should really be an imx31/35 specific call.
The patch removes early_initcall from mxc_init_l2x0() and get imx31
and imx35 soc specific function calls mxc_init_l2x0(), so that it's
not necessarily to be called for all imx socs when we build single
image for multiple imx socs.

Thus the function can be renamed to imx3_init_l2x0() and put into
mm-imx3.c.  It also changes the return type from integer to void.
From what I see, the integer was picked just to satisfy early_initcall
prototype.

With the patch 'ARM: l2x0: add empty l2x0_of_init' applied, the code
compiles even without CONFIG_CACHE_L2X0 enabled.

Jarkko Nikula [Mon, 26 Sep 2011 07:45:44 +0000 (10:45 +0300)]
ARM: OMAP: mcbsp: Move sidetone clock management to mach-omap2/mcbsp.c

Active sidetone requires that McBSP interface clock doesn't idle and there
is no mechanism in hwmod to turn autoidling on/off in runtime. McBSP2 and 3
in OMAP34xx share their interface clock with McBSP sidetone module and
that interface clock must be active when the sidetone is operating.

Sidetone has its own autoidle bit which should keep the interface clock
active but it is broken. Putting the McBSP core to no-idle mode when the
sidetone is active is no good either since it results to higher power
consumption when using the threshold based DMA transfers.

For making the McBSP code more generic, move this sidetone clock management
with fixme comments to mach-omap2/mcbsp.c and pass pointer to it via

Paul Walmsley [Wed, 14 Sep 2011 01:52:13 +0000 (19:52 -0600)]
OMAP3: id: remove identification codes that only correspond to marketing names

The OMAP3505/AM3505 appears to be based on the same silicon as the
OMAP3517/AM3517, with some features disabled via eFuse bits.  Follow
the same practice as OMAP3430 and identify these devices internally as
part of the OMAP3517/AM3517 family.

The OMAP3503/3515/3525/3530 chips appear to be based on the same silicon
as the OMAP3430, with some features disabled via eFuse bits.  Identify
these devices internally as part of the OMAP3430 family.

Remove the old OMAP35XX_CLASS, which actually covered two very different
chip families.  The OMAP3503/3515/3525/3530 chips will now be covered by
OMAP343X_CLASS, since the silicon appears to be identical.  For the
OMAP3517/AM3517 family, create a new class, OMAP3517_CLASS.

Thanks to Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com> for some help with the second

[media] vp7045: fix buffer setup

dvb_usb_device_init calls the frontend_attach method of this driver which
uses vp7045_usb_ob. In order to have a buffer ready in vp7045_usb_op, it has to
be allocated before that happens.

Luckily we can use the whole private data as the buffer as it gets separately
allocated on the heap via kzalloc in dvb_usb_device_init and is thus apt for
use via usb_control_msg.

This fixes a
BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 0000000000001e78

reported by Tino Keitel and diagnosed by Dan Carpenter.

[media] nuvoton-cir: simplify raw IR sample handling

The nuvoton-cir driver was storing up consecutive pulse-pulse and
space-space samples internally, for no good reason, since
ir_raw_event_store_with_filter() already merges back to back like
samples types for us. This should also fix a regression introduced late
in 3.0 that related to a timeout change, which actually becomes correct
when coupled with this change. Tested with RC6 and RC5 on my own
nuvoton-cir hardware atop vanilla 3.0.0, after verifying quirky
behavior in 3.0 due to the timeout change.

[media] [Resend] viacam: Don't explode if pci_find_bus() returns NULL

In the unlikely case that pci_find_bus() should return NULL
viacam_serial_is_enabled() is going to dereference a NULL pointer and
blow up. Better safe than sorry, so be defensive and check the
pointer.
